When Your Faith Matters, You Want Counseling That Makes Room for It
You may believe in God's goodness and still struggle with anxiety, even as you try to be present for your children. You may understand what Scripture says about patience, grace, and forgiveness but find yourself overwhelmed, weighed down by past experiences, or struggling with pressures from motherhood. Or you may have tried counseling before and felt that the conversation missed an important part of your life.
You shouldn't have to choose between caring for your mental health, showing up for your family, and honoring your Christian faith.
What is Christian Counseling?
Christian counseling integrates evidence-based mental health care with faith and biblical truth. It incorporates a Christian understanding of the person, human suffering, relationships, and growth.
It recognizes that emotional struggles, trauma, relationships, and life circumstances—including the joys and challenges of motherhood—can impact our spiritual lives. Many people desire support that honors both their psychological needs and their relationship with God.
Christian counseling does not mean that faith replaces therapy. Instead, it creates space to explore how your beliefs, values, relationship with God, and spiritual practices are an essential part of your healing journey.
Depending on your preferences and needs, sessions may include:
Exploring your relationship with God and how faith supports you through the challenges of motherhood and other life seasons
Understanding how your story and experiences have shaped you, including how they influence the way you approach motherhood
Processing pain, grief, trauma, or difficult life seasons
Identifying unhealthy beliefs and replacing them with truth
Developing emotional regulation and coping skills to navigate stress and overwhelm
Strengthening relationships and boundaries
Integrating prayer, Scripture, or spiritual disciplines
A Whole-Person Approach to Christian Counseling
Your experiences affect more than your thoughts. Stress, anxiety, grief, and trauma can influence how you feel in your body, connect with others, and experience your faith. You shouldn't have to navigate these challenges alone or separate your faith from your mental health care.
My approach to Christian counseling grounds evidence-based mental health care in biblical theology. With a Master’s degree in Counseling from Phoenix Seminary and current doctoral studies at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, I bring clinical expertise and theological training to my work. I believe healing involves the whole person—mind, body, relationships, emotions, and spiritual life—and that Scripture and evidence-based counseling can work together to support growth and restoration.
How Christian Counseling Can Help
Christian counseling can provide support as you work through:
Anxiety, stress, and feeling overwhelmed
Trauma and painful past experiences
Grief, loss, and significant life transitions
Relationship challenges and recurring patterns
Motherhood, emotional overwhelm, and the pressures of caring for others
Questions about faith, suffering, forgiveness, or how your beliefs relate to your experiences
The goal isn't to have perfect faith or never struggle. It's to better understand yourself, develop healthier ways of responding, strengthen your relationships, find your purpose, and feel more connected in your relationship with God.
Schedule your initial session. Share what brings you to counseling, what you hope will change, and the role you'd like your faith to have in the process.
Develop an approach together. Identify your goals and explore counseling strategies that fit your needs, values, and circumstances.
Build a more connected life. Work toward meaningful change in your emotional well-being, relationships, daily life, and faith.
